Jonathan in closed-door meeting with PDP governors
President Goodluck Jonathan held a
closed-door meeting at the Presidential
Villa on Sunday night with 16 Governors
of the People Democratic Party (PDP).
The meeting is believed to be focussed on
the crisis in the PDP that has led to the
split of the party into two factions.
Some of the attendees are governors that
belong to a new faction of the PDP
announced on Saturday to be led by
Kawu Baraje.
Sunday’s meeting kicked off at about 9.20
p.m. at the conference room of the First
Lady’s residence.
Governors at the meeting include
Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Rabiu
Kwankwaso (Kano), Isa Yuguda (Bauchi),
Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Idris Wada
(Kogi), Liyel Imoke (Cross River),
Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom),
Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Emmanuel
Uduaghan (Delta), Ibrahim Shema
(Katsina), Mukhtar Ramallan Yero
(Kaduna), Garba Umar (Taraba Acting
Governor), Saiidu Dakingari (Kebbi),
Theodore Orji (Abia), Ibrahim
Dankwambo (Gombe), and Jonah Jang
(Plateau).
Also in attendance were Vice President
Namadi Sabo; Secretary to the
Government of the Federation, Pius
Anyim; National Security Adviser, Sambo
Dasuki; and a senior lawyer and party
member, Joe Gazama.
As at Press time the meeting was still in
progress.
