14 die in Kebbi as vehicle plunges into river

No fewer than 14 people died on Saturday
when a vehicle plunged into a river on
Bahindi-Kende road in Bagudo Local
Government Area of Kebbi, local officials
and the media said.
The Chairman, Nigeria Union of
Journalists, Kebbi Council, Tukur Mari,
who witnessed the accident said it
occurred at midnight Saturday.
The Vice-Chairman of Bagudo Local
Government, Aliyu Zagga, and the District
Head of Kende, Bello Zagga, also
confirmed the incident.
Mr. Mari said the accident occurred when
the driver of the vehicle lost control of the
car, which fell into the Kende River. He
said 14 of the 15 passengers in the
vehicle died.
A survivor, Shamsuddeen Kende, was
receiving treatment at the General
Hospital, Dakingari, while the dead were
buried on Sunday morning according to
Islamic rites, he said.
