Firm boosts crime war with 25 vans

The efforts of the Lagos State
Government in crime fighting received a
boost on Monday with the presentation of
25 Toyota Hilux vans to the state by a
telecommunication firm, MTN Nigeria.
At the presentation of the vehicles in the
Lagos House, Alausa, MTN's Chief
Executive Officer, Mr. Michael Ikpoki, said
the donation was part of the company's
Corporate Social Responsibility to support
security and development in the state.
He said, "We have been part of the Lagos
State Security Trust Fund, and what we
are donating today is in line with our
continued support for the fund.
"Development can only be achieved in an
atmosphere of peace. On behalf of MTN, I
want to assure the state government that
we will continue to support you in this
regard."
Ikpoki said the company was the state's
key partner in progress, adding that the
firm had partnered the government in the
development of education and sports.
Governor Babatunde Fashola, who
received the vans on behalf of the
government, commended the company,
saying the gesture would go a long way in
helping to promote the security of lives
and properties in the state.
He said, "Investment in security is a
sensible one. We pledge that the
government will continue to do its best to
keep the state and its residents safe."
The governor stated that the LSSF was
one of the strategies by the state
government to adequately respond to
security threats through the provision of
equipment and other capabilities to
security agencies.
Fashola was joined at the event by some
members of the State Executive Council
and the Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Mr.
Fola Arthur- Worrey.
