OAU rated best in Nigeria, 8th in Africa

OAU rose from the 14th position to eightbest university in Africa.Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State , has been rated the bestuniversity in Nigeria and the eighth inAfrica in the latest webometric ranking.This was contained in the university snews bulletin issued on Tuesday, quotingthe new Webometric rating by CybermetricLab of Spain, a world-renowned researchcouncil.The publication stated that the councilrated OAU higher on the ladder fromnumber 14 to eight in Africa.It also confirmed the university sacademic excellence and intellectualsupremacy, saying this was the first timethat a Nigerian university would be soranked consecutively. 28 worshippers killed in Anambra stampede

NO fewer than 28 persons, who attended the weekly crusade at the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, in Idemili North local government area of Anambra State, lost their lives during a stampede at the end of the ceremony in the early hours of yesterday. The crusade, organized by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obinma for prayers, healing and spiritual retreat, attracts thousands of people, but the one that was held yesterday on the Feast of All Saints turned tragic.
