MDG: FG to release N25bn to develop 250 local governments
The money is to fast-track theachievement of the MDGs in Nigeriaahead of the 2015 deadline.The Special Assistant to the President onMillennium Development Goals (MDGs) ,Precious Gbeneol, on Thursday said theFederal Government would release N25billion to develop 250 local governmentareas.This is contained in a statement issued byDesmond Utomwe, the Media andCommunications Consultant to theoffice in Abuja.The statement said the effort was aimedat fast-tracking the achievement of theMDGs in Nigeria ahead of the 2015deadline.It said the fund would be used to developthe areas, adding that each of them wouldreceive N100 million.It said the funds would be releasedthrough Conditional Grants Scheme(CGS) programme.The statement also said that the effortswould enhance development through theprovision of essential services such aswater, healthcare services, education andpoverty reduction.According to the statement, the initiativehas scaled-up MDGs investment andpolicy attention towards priority s
