History:an important part of the educational sector!

I strongly blive dat most of d problem we are facing in Nigeria is largely due to our lack of d knowledge of our past. Miss Vivian Valdivia, an American who came to Nigeria(ilorin to b precised) once said it is shocking to discover dat in Nigeria, history is only taught in d higher institutions without any care to extend it the primary n secondary school level. According to her, in America, history is one of d core subjects taught from their lowest tier of education to the higher colleges. She further noted that it doesn't matter whether you are in art or the sciences, history is "a must" course. No wonder the state(aU.S.A) is progressing even with lack of a tangible mineral resources. Most politicians of today know nothing about the achievement of the past leaders. How many of them know of the great works of Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Ahmadu bello, sheu Shagari, S.L Akintola, Sir Herbert Marculay and many more of them? Of cos they can say Zik was d 1st indegenous gov. general n d 1st president. But what about his achievements? Talking about selfless politicians, Zik moved the capital of Nigeria from calabar which was advantageous to the ibos(his tribe) to lagos in the far western part of Nigeria. I believe that if history is taught from the primary school level up to the tertiary level, things will definitely turn around 4 good. On the asuu strike matter, If the federal government cherish the views of the likes of Awolowo on education, they wont toy with the education of their so called leaders of tomorrow. It is therefore pertinent to note that if care is not taking, what happened in france in 1789 will happen in Nigeria, its just a matter of time before Nigerians take laws into their hands.
