***Goals by Daniel Sturridge and Jordan
Henderson in extra time helped Liverpool see off a
spirited challenge from Notts County in the League
Cup on Tuesday night.
***Tottenham winger Gareth Bale failed to report
for training on Tuesday morning, giving the
clearest indication yet that he feels his time at the
club is over. The Wales forward is set on a move to
Real Madrid and late interest from Manchester
United has not produced a change of heart. He has
only one team in mind. (The Guardian)
***Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola refused to
criticise his players after their 1-1 draw with
Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Tuesday. Guardiola
rested several players for the match, ahead of

the Bavarians saw their 100 per cent record in the
league end with the result.

to make new signings had been intensified as he
counted the cost of a bruising Champions League
play-off second leg against Fenerbahce. (The
Guardian)

starting regularly for the Spanish giants. Spanish
media have urged Martino to select the 21-year-old
for Wednesday's Super Cup final second leg
against Atletico Madrid.
***Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has
lined up Valencia’s Adil Rami to help solve his
defensive problems. Pellegrini will be without
centre-back and captain Vincent Kompany for a
month because of a groin injury, and watched his

loss to newly-promoted Cardiff. (The Mirror)

hamstring injury that is likely to keep him out for
three weeks, while Aaron Ramsey and Jack
Wilshere also wore knocks after the gunners
progressed into the group stages of the Champions
League.
***AC Milan will be out to avoid a nightmare start
to the season when they host PSV Eindhoven in a

hangs firmly in the balance following their 1-1
draw in the first leg of their play-off against Dutch
outfit PSV Eindhoven.

interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata
but believes it is unlikely the Stamford Bridge club
would sell a star player to a domestic rival. (ESPN)

Bayern's 1-1 draw at Freiburg on Tuesday.
***Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone would
not be interested in a move for out-of-favour Real
Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas. The Spain

second choice in the club's opening two La Liga
fixtures of this campaign, with new boss Carlo
Ancelotti retaining faith in Lopez.

to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale on
Wednesday. The signing has been reportedly
concluded, and an official announcement will
